The Importance of Absurdity

And now I'm done for real. I can't tell you how good it feels or how much better it'll feel once I get these college apps sent out (the ones that have been sitting, fully completed, for the past 2 weeks)!

I've decided that coming up with mnemonic devices is the most funnest thing ever. My fun little international relations group (me, Lauren, Lee, Tory, Maxwell and Kevin) is great at it. We've had these countries-capitals quizzes that were part of our exam. Granted, they were matching, and really not all that hard, but heaven forbid any of us should pay enough attention in class to do well without cramming. So we came up with a ton of mnemonic devices to remember them all. For example, the captial of Ethiopia is Addis-Abba. Which sort of looks like Adidas. And Ethiopians run really fast because they were Adidas. The capital of Turkey is Ankara. At Thanksgiving, Aunt Kara makes Turkey. The capital of Jordan is Amman. Yes, Jordan is a man. The capital of Yemen in Sanaa. Which kind of sounds like sauna. And men like saunas. The best one though (because Kevin and I both came up with it individually), is Laos. The capital of Laos is Vientiane. Which, when you're drunk, looks a lot like Vietnam. Which is next to Laos.
Whoever says that public schools don't inspire creativity in their students is sadly mistaken!
