The Importance of Absurdity

This song's been on my mind a lot lately (girls, shush!) so I thought I'd post it. It's one that I wrote about a year and a half ago. I definitely don't still mean it for the person I originally wrote it for, but since I've been to TN with this person on my mind, it's all good.

Somewhere past the Tennessee border
I've got you on my mind
Early in a day in late November
The roads are wet 'cause Heaven cried
There's a haze rising over the Smokies
The sky's an orange-red
It's beauty like I've never seen
But I can't get you out of my head.

And everytime I turn to look
At all that lays down the road
Well I can't help but think of you
Can't help but wonder if you know

That you make me smile
You make me smile
You make me smile
Well, you make me smile

I watched the sun set this evening
Crimson rays reflected on the lake
It seemed some kind of heav'nly dream
One that's there then slips away
Well that's kinda how I'm feeling
I wonder if it's all a dream
'Cause the more time I spend with you
The more I think you might be perfect for me

And as the sun feel behind the mountain,
There was nothing left but night
But the stars remind me of you
And you make me feel alright

You make me smile
You make me smile
You make me smile
Well, you make me smile

Somewhere past the Tennessee border
I've got you on my mind
The thought of you overwhelms me
I can't run and I can't hide
