The Importance of Absurdity

I really like this song. And I kinda wish I'd had the cd this summer, for this song. Yeah.
Keep Your Distance by Buddy and Julie Miller
If I cross your path again
Who knows when, who knows when
On some morning without number
On some highway without end
Don't grasp my hand and say
Fate has brought us here today
Fate is only fooling with us friend
Keep your distance, keep your distance
When I feel you close to me, what can I do but fall?
Keep your distance, keep your distance
For with us, it must be all or none at all.
It's a desperate game we play
Throw our souls, our lives away
On wounds that can't be mended
And debts that can't be paid
Well I played and I got stung
Now I'm biting back my tounge
And sweeping out the footprints where I strayed

I know I say this a lot, but I honestly have the world's coolest friends. I'm forever being blown away by their awesomeness. They're just so...cool!
FOr example, I'd been needing to talk to Anna for a couple days. Big time. I finally caught her online yesterday afternoon and asked if I could come over. Not only did she skip dance for me, but she let me sit there and talk for at least an hour about stuff that's been going on. I mean, how many of your friends sit and listen to you ramble for an hour? Of course, after that, we got silly and such...which is only understandable if you've seen us in action!
And then there was last Sunday. Me, Jess, Lindsay, Haleigh, Chris and Peter went to see Luther (with 'rents and younger siblings). The movie was decent, but due to the nasty guy that sat on Chris's leg (long story!), we laughed through the whole thing. And then Anna met us at Fud's for dinner and we all squished into the Elvis booth, which is "our" booth. And I honestly had one of the best times I can ever remember. I mean, they're the people I'm really "me" with. They're the people who know me best. I'm so real with them and they love me despite, or maybe even because of it. Can you ask for anything more?
We may not have youth group this year, but to me, it's just as well. I'm so much closer to these people now than I ever was before, even when we did have youth group. I know that a big part of that was the musical last spring, but Haleigh, Lindsay and Peter weren't involved in it. And besides, some combination of us is together every weekend anyway. I don't know how I'd survive if I couldn't stop by Anna's whenever I needed some quality friend time. Or if I couldn't call Jessica and tell her anything. Or laugh 'til I cry at/with Chris and Jon.
So that being said...I like my friends.

So apparently, my coolness just radiates. Well, not really. Ok, not at all. But, after visiting First Baptist youth group for only the second time last night, I was asked to help start a youth worship team. Rock on! And what makes it all the much cooler (despite my intense love for all the music) is that no one else plays bass. So that means that if I can get ahold of one (*ahemJONahem*), I'll actually get to play! Woohoo!
And the Renaissance Festival was super. We took a bunch of pictures, so when Natalie scans hers and Jamie emails me hers, I'll direct you to them. 'Cause they're great. And Jasmine and I decided that it's our life calling to work there. She'll be a face painter and I'll be either the guitar chick or the fiddle guy with no teeth. Except that I'll have teeth.

The question for today is as follows...
Name the 5 most influential people in your life.
But not necessarily in order. And we're talking, of all time.

I had an impossible time getting out of bed this morning. I don't think I actually got up 'til 7 (I usually leave at 7:20). And as I was lying in bed, trying to decide if it was really worth it to get up, I thought to myself, "Self, there's no way I can make it through another week of school and work. I quit life". But then I remembered that I don't have to go to school on Thursday because I'm going to the Renaissance Festival with my Euro class. And the last home football game of my high school career is Thursday. And I get to work with the coolest person ever tomorrow. And Natalie and I are working together Friday night. And I get to spend the weekend with Sarah Doyle.
So basically, this week is going to frickin' rock.
