The Importance of Absurdity

It's official. Randy's is the best pizza place on the planet. And I think I'm gonna have to say that it's my favorite restaurant. I used to hate Randy's pizza. And then, 2 or 3 years ago, I randomly fell in love with it. My tastes don't usually change extremes like that, so it was kinda wierd. I didn't go very much until I got my license. But I started going a fair amount after I had dinner there with Jennifer. We split a 16" in about a half hour period. Ummmm, psycho. I went a good bit during lunch last year, enough that the guy who was always working knew my order (just a slice of cheese and soda, but all the same). I could walk in after work or with my friends and he'd know what I wanted. And that's really the best part about Randy's. They take care of you there. There's a JHS discount, even on weekends and nights (as opposed to during lunch, when a lot of people go for lunch). Once, I went on a Friday night and got a slice...they decided that someone had cut the slices too small (Randy's slices are ginormous, so the "small" slices were still bigger than normal pizza slices), so they gave me two. There was one time that I got a slice to go and it took quite a while, so they gave me an extra slice for having to wait. I went with a friend for lunch one day junior year, during that whole sniper thing. Neither of us had any money, so we couldn't buy anything, but we knew that Randy's always has a tv on (haha, we go there during the first rounds of the ACC and NCAA tournament too) and we wanted to watch the coverage (they'd just captured the snipers early that morning). Not only did they not care that we were sitting in there without buying anything, they gave us free drinks. Yesterday, I was famished after not hardly eating all day, so I stopped by Randy's on my way home from school (after an all day field trip). I ordered me a slice and the guy ringing me up asked if I go to Jordan. When I told him that I did, he handed me a cup and said "Drink's on us". That kind of attention and care is hard to find. I mean, I've been going to Starbucks on the same day of the week, ordering the exact same drink all semester. And they don't know me. Or if they do, they never say anything to suggest it. The way I see it, there's 4 Randy's locations in Durham, which is plenty. I should be able to take one with me to Memphis. That would make my life.

(And now I'm starving for a ginormous slice of Randy's cheese, dripping with grease that has to be soaked up with parmesean cheese...mmmmmmmm)
