The Importance of Absurdity

I hate college applications. With the fire of a thousand suns. I mean, honestly, Rhodes, Furman and Oxford are all gonna accept me anyway...can't they just say "Hey, we want you!" without my having to do all this stupid crap? And William and Mary's just gonna laugh at my application as they toss it in the trash, so what's the point?
The funny thing is though (there's always a funny thing, isn't there?), most everyone I know has gotten so discouraged from apps. Especially when it come to extracurriculars. They feel like they haven't been involved in anything, haven't achieved anything. But I've felt the exact opposite. Ok, so maybe I've only won one award, for French, in my 4 years of high school. But I'm just now realizing how much I've done. It's crazy! Four years of youth group, 4 years leading worship (that's only sort of a fib!), 4 years of math club, 4 math competitions, 3 years of church nursery, 2 years of track, 2 of diving, 2 of victory club (1 of which I was secretary), 1 of French club, 1 of Student Ambassadors, 2 part-time jobs and that little thing called Governor's School. It's almost enough to make me think I'm gonna miss it.
Almost.
