The Importance of Absurdity

Just so that everyone knows, I suck at driving a stick. I would advise not being ANYWHERE near me the next time I try (except Chris, of course, though we may want to use my car!).
Anyone remember how crazy my life was around this time a year ago? Maybe not...some of you didn't know me then, some of you didn't really care. But things are getting just as crazy now and I've decided that I don't like it. I mean, yes, it is nice to be finally working and making some money. But already, my job bores me. I can only make but so much of a difference in someone's life by serving them ice cream, you know? My interaction with the customers can only go but so far. I found out Friday that a ton of places at the mall are hiring. I'd be perfectly happy working at Bath and Body works or the Candle place or something.
School is also just kicking my ass right now. I absolutely adore all my teachers except English. The school had absolutely no business giving a first year teacher to AP English 4 kids. He student taught AP last year, but no first year teacher should teach AP. Especially not senior English. And because he hasn't learned yet how to manage time and discussions and such, we're getting overwhelmed with work that wouldn't be overwhelming if it was spread out. Basically, if you had a bad weekend (say, Thursday-Monday), you're screwed for the quarter, which kills your chances at your reach school. Oh, and that's the other thing. He refuses to work on college essays yet. Does it matter that by the time he gets to them, it'll be pretty much too late for the early decision kids? Or kids like me that are trying to get everything out by November 1? And because I'm visiting my last school on October 14, I'll only have a little more than 2 weeks to do it all. Which sucks.
The one really cool thing that's sorta keeping me busy is FCA. It isn't quite making me busy yet, since we've only had one meeting. But I can definitely see it taking up a bit of time come winter and such. I adore it. I love the kids doing it and I love that there's finally something for me to go to at school besides Young Life (especially since we have no youth group!). I'm just sad that we didn't get anything started earlier.
