The Importance of Absurdity

Well hot doggity dig. Wouldn't it figure that the very same day I mail in my Rhodes deposit, I get a letter from Oxford offering me an academic scholarship of $5000 a year. On top of the other financial aid. I mean, it doesn't really matter since Oxford isn't really offering me other aid since I never actually finished the aid applications, since I knew I was going to Rhodes...but still. It would have been nice to know a couple weeks ago. Not that it would have changed my mind. After last weekend, I am thoroughly convinced that Rhodes is the only place on the planet for me. It's quintessential Kateyness (hahaha, I've been wanting to use that phrase for so long). I can't wait 'til August 20. I heart Rhodes. Oh, and did I mention that I'm for sure diving? I haven't officially told the coach, but I have officially decided. Most excellent. I have a great team and I may even have another girl to dive with! Score!
Also, despite having to be at school at 8:15 tomorrow (Saturday) morning to take a practice AP calculus exam (until noon), how fun is it that I get to go to not one, but two concerts this weekend. And I'm going to both by myself! Ok, maybe that doesn't sound like much fun, but I really like going to concerts by myself. It's...refreshing. But yeah, I'm going to SpencerAcuff (backed by the RJ Reynolds High School orchestra, opened by David Mikush Band) in Winston Salem on Saturday night and Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken (opened by Brian Arant) in Charlotte on Sunday night. I haven't seen Sandra play (aside from the IGrace concert) in 2 1/2 years...and the IGrace concert was still 2 years ago...I am so freakin' excited to see her again.
