The Importance of Absurdity

I'm here, I'm here! I really am! I swear, I haven't fallen off the edge of the earth like you've probably been thinking! 'Course, the earth doesn't have an edge, but wouldn't it be cool if it did? Ultimate vacationanywhoo, I'm here. It's been an insane couple of monthswhat am I talking about? It's been an insane 6 months! Holy crap? Six months! I'm just now realizing that it's nearly Christmas. I'm not ready for it. I finished semester number 5 todaygoodness, it sounds like nothing, but there's only 3 left!!! Can you believe that??? It feels like just yesterday I was walking through the insanely crowded hallways (which are now nearly unbearable) with my schedule and map in hand, hoping, praying that I'd see someone I know. Now, I can hardly go anywhere without someone stopping me to say hello or ask me something or other.
It's funny how all of us have gotten older. I remember still remember Wendy's squeals over goodness knows what. Or Jasmine's sullen glare. Or even Monica's boy craziness. And now, Wendy spends her days studying and fretting about the future. Jasmine's rarely seen without a smile on her face. And Monica's off at NCSSM, with her boyfriend of several months. And Jessica. The change in her relational decisions between 9th grade and now is phenomenal. And I wonderhow much have I changed? I mean, I know that I'm now happy-go-lucky, always talking, not a care in the world Katey (as opposed to my former sullen, sulking, not much fun to be around middle school self). But really, have I changed all that much? Hmmm. An interesting thought though.
Well, hopefully, I'll be recording some stuff over the next two weeks. As of now, there's 5 songs we're gonna do, one of which isn't totally finished yet. I mean, it's finished, but I haven't tweaked it yet. "Home" has just been tweaked to perfection. Can't get any better. Which is a really nice feeling to have! The other songs are "Be Still (Psalm 46)", "O Wonderous Gift" (an Anne Steele hymn that I wrote some music for), "Come Thou Fount" and "3am" (the one that I'm still tweaking). My friend Jamie Faussett's doing all the technical stuffthat's really not my area at all! Don't really know if we're gonna be doing it here or at her house, but that doesn't really matter anyway, now does it? So anyway, hopefully by the time I go back to school (yeah, I REALLY don't want to think about that!), or even by Mark and Eric's concert, I'll have some good mp3's and hardcopies for y'all.
